HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER MINT GREEN GLAZE
Englishman George Poxon established the Poxon China Company at Vernon, California, in 1912 to manufacture floor tiles and art pottery.  Poxon China prospered until the Great Depression, when the company was sold to Faye G. Bennison in 1931.  One of the first acts was to change the company’s name to Vernon Kilns.
There were two major lines, dinnerware and speciality items.  An art ware department was established in the mid 1930’s. Vernon Kilns was a Disney licensee from October 10, 1940 to July 22, 1942 when they assigned all rights, inventory and molds to Evan K Shaw’s American Pottery Company.
In this short time the company distinguished itself as a major contributor to Disneyana.  Pieces from the feature films
Fantasia
,
Dumbo
, and the
Reluctant
Dragon
were produced.
The five bowl and three vase designs from
Fantasia
were made in high relief and several color combinations, with more intricate designs applied by hand.

Very large, impressive bowl. Approximately 10-1/2” diameter with a round opening approximately 5” diameter.
The satyr bowl has the number “125” stamped in blue on the reverse.  In addition, on the bottom there is blue ink information stamped “Designed by WALT DISNEY Copyright 1940, VERNON KILNS, Made in U.S.A.”
Very good vintage condition.
Minute chip on interior opening edge. A few minor markings on sides - possibly color transfer from original production of the piece. See pics.
