You are bidding on a very early 3 Piece Set of Three Little Pigs Patriot China made for Walt Disney Enterprises in 1935!
Disney’s Three Little Pigs was undoubtedly the most financially successful of the Silly Symphony series of cartoon shorts.  It earned four times the box office gross of a regular Disney cartoon and won the Academy Award for Best Cartoon in 1933.  Disney contracted with the Schumann China Co. to sell juvenile chinaware imported from Bavaria from 1932 through 1934.  In 1935, however, Hitler banned the manufacture of Mickey Mouse merchandise and the showing of his films in Germany.
The Salem China Company took over the license in 1935 for Walt Disney Enterprises and produced "Patriot China” until 1939.

Each of these rare 3 pieces show normal signs of wear and age.  The character paintings on the 3 pieces remain bright and vivid.  As you review the photographs for this listing you will see crazing which is normal for china pieces of this age.  The only piece that has a significant blemish is the Three Little Pigs Bowl.   As you can see in pictures #2, #9 & #10 there is a chip on the rim of the bowl.  It is not too visible as you look at the top of the bowl.  As you turn the bowl over and look at the back, you will see the chip measures 1/4” in size.  There are no other significant chips, cracks or breaks on these wonderful pieces.  The Three Little Pigs with Red Ridding Hood Plate measures 7 1/4” in diameter.  The Three Little Pigs Bowl measures 6” in diameter.  The Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf Mug stands 3” tall and 3” in diameter.
We have displayed this Walt Disney Enterprises very early set of Three Little Pigs Chinaware for about 40 years.  As collectors, we tremendously enjoyed our early years of “the search” for older Walt Disney Enterprises pieces.  It’s finally now time to have others enjoy some of these early Disney pieces.
